Collections

Chester History and Heritage has an extensive picture collection and a wide range of resources, including books, pamphlets, directories and maps of Chester, which can be freely consulted on site. We also hold microfiche of Chester parish registers, Overleigh Cemetery records, census and electoral rolls.

We offer free computer access including ancestry and findmypast library editions. On Tuesdays and Fridays our volunteer family history researchers offer a free service, helping you to trace your ancestors; whether you’re a beginner or have reached a stumbling block in your research, this service is for you!
